whining time

so my fridge has been leaking for like... since i got back from my vacation in august. i wanted it to die actually, but i didn't. the situation got worse... at first leaking once every week, to twice a week, then to everyday. then i saw icicles forming in the back... but how can it leak when it's over-freezing??? wow, the mysteries of science. recently, it killed my veggies... actually gave them frost bite... so my really expensive wierd cucumber died on me before i got to put it in a salad. i decided to increase the temperature, and now its better... less leaks, no frost bitten veggies... but its still doing some leaking (inside the fridge now, mind you), but not outside of the fridge (and depositing rust on the floor) as it was doing before.

today i actually knocked on the concierges' door. my heating is all messed up. we're guaranteed at least 21 Celcius in the appartment (as he told me, but my friend said 22), but it sure isn't 21, and i have no thermometer to prove it. need to pick one up at some dollar store. the dude told me that the heating kicks off by itself by comparing the outside temperature to the inside or something like that. i think that comparing device needs a little adjustment (where's my screwdriver?). weeks before the heating was too intense for me. i even put it on 16, and now it's freaking cold. i have it on 28 and it aint as heck near 20. the whole building is like that. kinda makes me mad. i paid for heating. its supposed to be included in my rent. i want my heat!!!!!

the only comforting thing is that i bought a book today. its an anatomy book for artists... looks kinda cool and its a huge book. all for 30 bucks. sweet. its in french, but i don't mind. i guess i'll learn some french while i'm at it. i always wanted an anatomy book. but i want it for two uses. one to familiarize myself with what the heck is in the body, and number two, to draw correctly. now to find time to draw.

the chilling mouse story

Today is the first day it snowed since last winter. It was only a little bit of snow, but at least we're not freezing for nothing. Snow is fun to play with. Today's snow is the kind of snow that melts upon hitting the ground. No mess! You just have to catch it in the air.

On a more somber note, I went to my mouse class today. We learned how to handle the mouse, force feed the mouse by sticking a feeding tube down its throat (which I wasn't able to do for fear of choking the poor dude), administering anesthesia by injecting ketamine/xylazine in the back of its neck, injecting something into the tail, another injection at the upper right quadrant of its tummy, and taking blood from the tail, a vein in the leg, and from its heart.

I was not successful in taking blood from the leg, the tail, nor the heart. Its a scary course. I wasn't poking deep enough. The only thing I was able to do right was anesthesia. Even then I was afraid to hurt the poor guy. I didn't know we were supposed to kill them by the end, but all the mice in my group died except mine. My mouse's heart was still beating very evidently. They even dissected the mice in the other groups. I feel bad.

quest for blood

friday had we a party vampire at a club/bar. quite funny, it was. as many of us vampire teeth had, stayed on it did not. a few of us kept losing our vampire teeths. i once left them in the bathrrom after it had fallen off. the next person who found them sure had a good laugh. this was the first time i put on makeup all by myself. as i am not used to putting on makeup, lets just say i don't know how to do it. but it didn't really matter, its a vampire party, its dark, no one cares. i went gothic. those eyeliner pencils, however you're supposed to use them.... what is eye shadow and why does the eyes need shadowing? the only thing i think i got right is mascara. i know how to use that. halloween parties is a good time to practice putting on makeup. no one will say you did it wrong since you're supposed to look like some sort of preternatural being anyways.

oh a note on todays election... dang!!!! the country is split almost 50/50, but i wanted Kerry to win. bummer!!! :-( i even stayed up til 2 AM to find out who will take over Ohio, but they didn't show until 11:30 AM this morning. I guess the other two states can forget about voting. It won't even matter now.
