Triathlon and Hiking

The triathlon happened just one day after the party, but ja, i guess i haven't been keeping up with this. it was the canadian university championship (olympic distances), which mean 1.5 km swimming, 40 km biking, and 10 km run. one right after the other. insane!! but, Dani is strong. She did it all and got 3rd for women and 9th overall. this was the canadian championship too. i was really inspired. it was a cold day too. a lot of people showed up to support her. I think she's an inspiration to many of us.

now, i'm jogging. ain't it great? wonder how long i'll keep this up. i am also signed up for an archery class and playing badminton. cool huh? soon winter will set in, and i'll get ice-skates. this will be fun. oh, i'm also singed up to do a fundraising for breast cancer. it's one of those race for the cure where you collect money from kind people to help with the cause, while you do a bit of running... lagging... then walking. he he.

saturday's hike with our biomedical engineering crowd was a blast. the weather was perfect. we took off around 9:30ish maybe and headed for mont tremblant. it was georgous there. the colors were changing. red, yellow, green... and we did our little hike for 30 min, had lunch (yay big fat sandwich), took tons of pictures, and hiked some more. in the "forest" we were singing, yodeling, calling out to each other, and making animal noises. it was great fun. we even saw two guys that were doing some circus act... balancing on top of each other... one handed, two handed. we tried doing that too.... but our version is a very cheap rip off. tho it was funny. if i get a pix i'll upload it.

Eric, Marc, and Jacinthe's party

We had live entertainment with the interesting experiments of self proclaimed "Magnet Man"... the entertaining next door neighbor. He sure had lots of gadgets in his garage. Physics experiments are fun. It was sure entertaining for the kids who all wanted to be volenteers.

I think we may have overestimated the amount of people present at the party at the same time. We bought 3 cakes for the birthday celebration, but there were still some left over cakes. Too bad I didn't try all of them (two of them were chocolate and one fruit). I think I might have been a bit buzzed after 1 beer and 2 tequillas. That was a wierd feeling. I don't think I ever reached buzz-dom until yesterday. And its true, you are more uninhibited when you're almost drunk. I actually danced volenteerily hehe. However, I did not recieve the beer goggle effect.

But, I lasted til I got home to get sick. Boy was I sick. It just takes you over. One minute you're just walking around fine, and the next minute you can't even stand up. I ended up evacuating the contents of my stomache under 3 minutes -- a souvenir of what I had stuffed in during the night. It looked like salad and cake. Wonder where the beer went.

Take home message.... HCl burns! (how can bulimics stand it??? ewwe!)

bloody upstairs neighbor

ever since last saturday, this dude/chick, i can't decide anymore, has been making a heck of a lot of noise upstairs. i thought it was a new arrival since they started at bloody 6AM to move furniture around and hammering at the walls. the next day, the bloody punk woke me up again around 6AM. i said fine. if this goes away after a few days, i won't make any complaints. i mean most people don't have as few stuff as i do. i move my stuff in, and i don't move it around. the unloading took less than an hour for me.

but this freaking punk is an early bird... the absolute antithesis of me. monday, annoying upstairs neighbor was a 4AM person. i am almost sure he/she is wearing army boots. walked around every 2 minutes. I was ready to launch my rubber ball i got at the dollarama. it would sure give the person a nice jolt i'm sure. but i guess i was happy just thinking of all the evil i can do, and i was too tired to get up and find that ball. besides, its one of those wierd balls where they put a wolf inside of it. ok so the person has been doing the army march the whole week always sometimes between 4 and 5. i wish the person would just leave!!!!

i even ended up dreaming about meeting him. dude, i dreamt that it was an old geezer (who happens to look like sean connery was wearing a black suit and a hat like in avengers or something) in an elevator who said he was moving in. he joke that the person who lives under him won't be a happy camper. i asked why, and he said he makes a lot of noise with the things that he's into. so in the dream, i finally got fed up and climbed up the emergency staircases up to his balcony only to discover its the dude from the elevator. i said, ah its you. would you be so kind as to quiet down around the early morning, because some people would like to get some sleep. he says no, he wants to keep his style of life and enjoys it. then he drags something with him as he exits his appartment. the thing looked like a bed post with a huge guitar, violin, or some string instrument firmly attached to it. that would explain the moving noises. he was wearing your ole mens shoes, what you call it... dress shoes which to me is great for tap dancing. he says, as he leaves, he does this everyday.

i think i infuriated myself to consciousness. now there is two things that needs to die. first, my fridge, i'm sure is an electricity sucker. i can't believe how much i'm paying for electricity in the summer. most people tell me that's an insane rate. i was even gone for two weeks during my vacation. i only have one light on at a time, and i'm mostly somewhere else and not at home. so yes, the fridge needs to die, and i need to get a new one. good news is, its beginning to leak once in a while. i hope it reaches its lifeline soon. the second thing that really really really needs to die is the freaking upstairs army boots punk's noise (or i hope his boots break open and he'd had to get slippers). so why did i say i don't know whether its a dude or a chick anymore? well, i heard heels today. but not at the same time as the boots. so that would mean its a lady who wears army boots at home? cuz it certainly wasn't army boots punk with a lady. he's marching upstairs again. boy i really hate him. tomorrow i'm going to the concierge to ask for the apt number and write him a bloody letter or sick the concierges on him.

Coming soon...

Whoa, this thing is getting as much update as my lab notebook. That's not good for either of them. So as some of you might know, I now have a C++ compiler on my computer. Its the very first one. I can actually write and run programs now. The first was a "hello world" test. I didn't even write the program. It came with the compiler. It compiled! Its a dos based compiler I got off of download.com. You don't even have to install it. Thats what I like about it. It avoids seeking out the admistrator at school so that you can install a free compiler. Too bad no de-bugger.

So, now the hard part, what did I do these last weeks. Hmm... I helped a friend move, I wrote my first research tool (the protocol generator, I call it) and I'm using a new chat program. AIM is supposed to be bugged with spyware, and my firewall would not let me use AIM express. I'm now back in touch with people I haven't had a chance to talk to in ages. Like for example, two of my high school friends, and my ex-roommate. For some reason, her email didn't work anymore, and of course my telephone didn't work anymore (being not in the States and all), so we were never going to be in contact again if I didn't get online. See what an impact internet has on keeping in contact???

In the weeks to come there will be more to write... there's the triathlon match of Dani, there's the hiking trip of our biomedical engineering society, the painting of an apartment followed by moving of course, then there is Marc & Eric's party.

Now, the sentence that just don't belong: It's getting mighty cold here already. Soon, I will have to bring in my plant and actually water it myself.
