Annoying sound of beeping
So Canada day is coming up (July 1), which is known in Montreal also as the notorious Moving day . Some people are already moving, while others are getting prepared to move. For the last two days, somebody upstairs has moved and the other is in the process of moving in. What a rukus! So, around 11:20 A.M. today an annoying beeping started. I believe its the smoke detector! This is not the first time the smoke dector went off, so I know what it sounds like. The first time I heard it was actually in my own apartment. My smoke dector is just a few inches from my door, and the neighbor's cooking set it off. Smokes galore when I opened the door.
This time the smoke detector beeps are coming from upstairs. Its still beeping after 10 minutes. Dang neighbor! This is freaking annoying! Add to it that it has been raining since last night... bad weather, can't get out. The upstairs guy has been waxing his floor or something. I feel the presence of a heavy machine carefully going over the floors. Either its a waxing machines or I don't know what it is. Anyway, 15 min, its still beeping..... I hate my new upstairs neighbor already. I hope there isn't really a fire. But, then again, if there was, the guy is still there making some noise, although not as much anymore. Do you suppose he's suffering from smoke inhalation? Well, I don't see any smoke coming from atop or anywhere else for a that matter and apparently my music is not loud enough. I wish I knew how to send out waves that cancel that sound wave.

Backlogged? Yes I think so.
So I guess I haven't been keeping up to date with this... Here's the short version...
I graduated! Well, I didn't go to the ceremony since I figured it would be boring. This was held on June 16th in the St. Joseph Oratory I think. During that week, I had friends from Cali staying with me. They stayed for two weeks, so meanwhile we did the whole Montreal tour. I took them to the interesting museums (some of them take a day to go through) after buying a museum pass which gave access to 33 museums. Well technically it was only 32, but they counted metro art as one of them. I did eventually find metro art.
We did the Biosphere, Biodome, Insectarium, Botanical Gardens, Redpath Museum, the archaeology museum, Science Center, Planetarium, and the Ramsey Chateau. So, its pretty much impossible to cover all 32 museums (in 3 days as the pass allows). You have to plan it really carefully if you want to get the most out of those museum passes. We visited Chinatown, Mont Royal, and Jean Drapeau park. In the Jean Drapeau park, we found many public art pieces and a couple of waterfalls. Its really a nice place for a picnic or a good walk. Makes me want to get a doggy so I can have some company if I want to go there.
We also did a few days of shopping since it was raining like mad and shopping is done indoors. We also went to Ottowa for a few hours, calling up a friendly tour guide in Ottowa (one of our friends) to tell us something about Ottowa while we walked around the Parliament area. Too bad I couldn't locate my camera at all for any of the photo ops. That night, we ate at a Japanese restaurant called Kinki's. I couldn't figure out what was so kinky about the place until I turned the menu over and saw a girl eating sushi provocatively with one high-heeled foot raised on a pedestal while the other on the floor. You really have to see the picture to understand. I might be making it sound more sordid than it really is. Other than this picture on the menu, nothing else seem to fit the name of the restaurant. It was a very pricey restaurant though -- with small portions. Gastronomy is the word that comes to mind.
So basically, I hiked my friends around Montreal to death. They had never had so much hiking and walking around in their life. But, then again, what do you expect if you have a "tour guide" who is looking for a job and has all that time to spend with you? What can you really see if you don't walk around, right? Needless to say, with the 3 hour time difference from Cali and the hiking around all day, sleeping was never really that diffucult. They were really tired by the end of the day.
My only regret was that I wasn't able to do this when my best friend was here. I guess, this is the first time that I really saw Montreal myself. I didn't have time to do this when I first got here. Then, everything got hairy, so I had less time. But, this was a good experience. I like Montreal more now -- especially in the summer, where its not friggin cold.
Yesterday I got my diploma. It was made on evil day according to what was written on it. Soooo appropriate!
